Lisa Banes was an American actress. She was nominated for a Drama Desk Award for Best Supporting Actress in a Play in 1984 for Isn't It Romantic? and she won a Theater World Award in 1981 for her portrayal of Alison Porter Off-Broadway in Look Back in Anger. In the film, she appeared in Cocktail (1988), Freedom Writers (2007), Gone Girl (2014), and Hollis in A Cure for Wellness (2016).
She has appeared on Broadway several times. She played Cassie in the Neil Simon play Rumors in 1988 with Christine Baranski, [4] Margaret Lord in the musical High Society with Anna Kendrick in 1998, she was in Accent on Youth with David Hyde Pierce in 2009, and more recently in the revival. 2010 of present laughter with Victor Garber.

Banes also played Mrs. Berry in The Hotel New Hampshire (1984), Bonnie in Cocktail (1988), Flora in Dragonfly (2002), and Christina Ricci's mother in Pumpkin (2002). In 2014, she appeared in David Fincher's Gone Girl as Marybeth Elliott, mother of Amy Elliott (Rosamund Pike).

Cause of Death
Banes died after a hit-and-run incident involving an electric scooter, according to reports. On June 4, Banes was on his way to meet his wife Kathryn Kranhold for dinner. At the intersection of West 64th and Amsterdam Avenue, she was hit by a scooter, and the driver fled the scene. Banes was taken to Mount Sinai Morningside Hospital, where she was reportedly in critical condition after sustaining a traumatic brain injury.
Los Angeles resident Banes was reported to be visiting New York for the first time since the pandemic when the incident occurred. The scooter was last seen heading north on Amsterdam Avenue and has since disappeared.
