Nathan Allen Had ‘Troubling White Supremacist Rhetoric
Authorities say they found white supremacist rhetoric written by a gunman suspected of killing a retired Massachusetts State Police officer and an Air Force veteran in Winthrop on Saturday, a shooting that remains under investigation as a hate crime.
At a news conference, Suffolk District Attorney Rachael Rollins described the murders of retired police officer David L. Green and 60-year-old veteran Ramona Cooper as "executions."
Police responded to the area after receiving reports of gunfire and Allen was fatally shot by an officer, according to a statement from Winthrop Police Chief Terence Delehanty. The officer who shot the gunman was placed on administrative leave, according to standard procedure.

Police said Green may have been trying to prevent Allen from harming others.
"We do not tolerate hatred in this community," Delehanty said, noting that he had commissioned the local public health director to provide counseling sessions in the community. "We will continue to work on it."
Rollins said Allen had not been on the radar of his office and that he was legally licensed to carry firearms.
"There was nothing on his background check, but this person killed two people yesterday," he said. She said that she had stolen a truck and traveled more than twice the speed limit. She noted the proximity of nearby synagogues and that Allen was found to have written anti-Semitic comments "from his own hand."
The investigation is ongoing.
"A preliminary investigation indicates that the suspected man allegedly stole a box truck owned by a plumbing and sewer company and then crashed into a residential building on Veterans Road," police said. “After the accident, the suspect got out of the truck and fled on foot. At some point shortly thereafter, the suspect, who was armed with a firearm, is believed to have shot the two adult victims. "
The suspect may have been armed with more than one weapon, authorities said. Delehanty said the first victim was found on Shirley Street, half a block from the scene of the accident. The suspect confronted the second victim in an alley between two houses, the chief said.
