An Oklahoma man's long, hot commutes of walking 17 miles to work every day are over, thanks to the kindness of a Good Samaritan who helped him get him a bike, and is now working to secure a car for him. Franklin is a cook at Buffalo Wild Wings and typically leaves three hours before his shift starts so he can do the eight-mile hike in about two and a half hours, he told affiliate KOKH. by Fox.
"I really don't care if he gets tired, I just have to keep pushing," Franklin told the outlet, who said life has been "difficult" since his mother died when he was 16 years old. "I walk only to make my family proud." It was during one of those long walks that Michael Lynn saw Franklin running errands on a, particularly hot day.
"I was going down 12th Street and I saw it," Lynn told ABC affiliate KOCO. "I was thinking, 'Wow, it's a hot day.' One thing led to another, and I found out that he [walking to work] ... just couldn't believe it. Lynn offered Franklin a ride to work, and after learning more about his circumstances, he was prompted to write a Facebook post about him, which soon caught the attention of Kerri Collins.

Collins, who is the administrator of My Riding Buddies Oklahoma (MRBO) and Bikers for Elves, a motorcycle charity group of which her husband is the founder, told KOCO that the publication "opened [his] heart. her". Every time I see something posted about someone anywhere in Oklahoma, I immediately step in and do everything we can as a group," she told the outlet. "I was touched that this man is only 20 years old and walking to two different jobs with nothing in the heat."
